Essential Nutrients of the Ocean
Aquamin was featured in the October 2016 issue of Nutraceuticals World Magazine. The article focuses on the essential nutrients of the ocean now becoming more readily available to the consumer for a plethora of health needs.
Vital nutrients harvested from marine ecosystems are a rich and growing segment of the nutraceuticals market. Fish, krill, microalgae and their derived components all boast myriad benefits for human health, with substantial clinical research.
Chief among these dietary ingredients are omega-3 fatty acids, which are derived from a variety of sources. According to Euromonitor International, sales of dietary supplements marketed or sold as fish oil/omega fatty acids (including cod liver oil, other marine-based oils, and plant-based oils) amounted to approximately $3.6 billion globally in 2016, with a CAGR of 4.2% from 2011-2016.
